Seymour Duncan Wiring HSH 1 volume and 2 tone pots
« on: June 19, 2009, 02:14:29 pm »
Thanks to the really helpful guys in Mole Music in leatherhead I now have a much better understanding and I now realize just how many options I have to wire up my Westone Spectrum III.
I do however now realize that I know so little about the electronics and how pickups work :(  A lot of reading over the net for me these next few days!
I thought I would ask here what kind of wiring you think might be best for 2 x Pearly Gates humbuckers with a Single coil in the centre. HSH.  (original set up)  http://www.westone.info/wiring/spectrum3/index.html
I have two tone control pots (coil tap and a phase pot), one volume control and a five way strat style selector switch.
To be honest I rarely use the single coil pick up but perhaps theres a set up to change my opinion.  The guitar i am building is made of a solid body Alder wood with a 1pc maple neck and I am looking for some bright clean sounds to come out of this guitar.
I have had a great deal of trouble finding a suitable wiring diagram for this set up :( I would welcome any advice on where to look and what kind of diagram you guys would use.

Thanks

Jem

Without sounding funny, this is probably the best place to start:

And then here:

This is something I want to try on a HSH guitar sometime, I had the idea in my head of being able to have either a HH or a SSS setup from one guitar but havent got the experience to come up with a diagram on my own. I was really pleased to find this.....
